Prometheus Research is looking for exceptional recent college graduates to join its Analyst Group as Junior Analysts. You will be trained in database theory and design principles, technical writing, and project management as a precursor to advancing to the Analyst position (where you will apply this knowledge to consult on custom data management systems for top biomedical researchers).
An ideal candidate will demonstrate solid analytical thinking and an eye for identifying missing details in others' explanations. Impressive communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Familiarity with biomedical or behavioral research is a plus.
This is a full-time training position at our office in New Haven, Connecticut, conveniently located just steps from the New Haven town green. Flexible schedules and telecommuting options are available once training is complete.

The Research Data Manager will support a major biomedical research effort, by maintaining a high quality data-set as it rapidly grows, and by making the data available to researchers and other users.
Areas of Responsibility
• Design and implement procedures to insure the overall cleanliness, consistency, and accessibility of the research data stored in a web- based collaboration database
• Produce reports that communicate the status of data collection efforts to various stakeholders
• Produce documentation describing the data to end-users
• Produce raw data sets for input into statistical analysis packages
• Conduct basic statistical quality checks on key variables to detect outliers and patterns suggesting large differences among sites or interviewers.
• Communicate user requests to the software development team, and help evaluate the developer's efforts to improve the user experience and to streamline data management
Required Qualifications
• 3 years experience with managing basic research or clinical trial data
• MA in a behavioral or biological science, or in statistics, or equivalent experience
• Good working knowledge of a statistical package such as SAS or SPSS
• Excellent knowledge of Excel
• Some experience with designing and querying relational databases (e.g., using MS Access or FileMaker)
• Ability to quickly learn new software tools, and an interest in doing so (yes, we're looking for nerds)
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated experience communicating directly with scientists (our customers)

This high profile position assists renowned biomedical researchers throughout the process of obtaining phenotype data and DNA from our client's rapidly growing research repository. The work supports an unprecedented multi-center collaboration -- the Simons Simplex Collection -- to build a publicly-available source of research-quality genetic and phenotypic data on families impacted by simplex idiopathic autism.
Areas of Responsibility
• Serve as project liaison to key stakeholders
• Coordinate, review, and process researchers' requests for repository access
• Support researchers (e.g., geneticists and clinicians seeking phenotype data and/or DNA) through the various stages of the request process
• Oversee and maintain work queues at each stage of request process

We seek a senior Python/PostgreSQL backend software developer to complement our team. Prometheus Research provides data management services to genetic research laboratories and clinics studying childhood autism. Our software product, RexDB, provides a collaboration framework for scientific research and is currently deployed at over 13 research institutions including Yale, Harvard, U Michigan, and UCLA.
Our team is small and growing rapidly, you will have an opportunity to participate in a great many roles:
• Providing database analysis and design expertise to our business analyst team, turning their prototypes into scalable data structures;
• Collaborating with business analysts to construct comprehensive sample data sets and regression tests for new and existing work;
• Developing server-side business logic to support medical research workflow and data management policies;
• Documenting a clear API to backend logic so that user interface developers are able to successfully incorporate new functionality;
• Performing data analysis and automating data migration from prior versions of our own software and from various legacy systems;
• Participating as a peer reviewer and as a mentor to junior developers; and
• Supporting your software with full life-cycle engineering including timely bug fixes, security and penetration testing, end-user documentation, and final-tier technical support.
Our work environment is primarily virtual with heavy reliance upon IRC, subversion, and a home-grown project tracking system. A substantial amount of our work, when not directly competing with our business model, is released under an (BSD-style) open source license. Since regular contact with business analysts is required for this position, we prefer candidates local to New Haven, CT, however those within a few hours commute will be considered. Once per month we have a several-day dedicated, on-site technology seminar where your presence will be required. Prometheus Research is a dynamic, fast-growing software company focused on delivering software solutions to medical researchers. We are looking for a developer to automate the quality assurance testing and documentation generation for our on-line database application. The primary responsibility is to serve as a conduit between application developers and business analysts, converting requirements into regression tests and test data. The secondary role is to automate the construction of our user manual, generating a custom document reflecting each client's research data structure and application modules.

Prometheus is seeking intellectually curious undergraduates to participate in a summer internship program. The Research Informatics Internship program is an excellent choice for undergraduates interested in continuing on to graduate school; interns will have the chance to help scientists across the country accomplish research goals. Interns will learn client communication and project management skills by assisting our Analyst team on data modeling projects. Interns will also work with the Operations team, assisting on projects that may include test automation, graphic design, and technical writing.
Successful interns will be offered continuing part-time employment during the school year, allowing them to continue to reap the financial and cultural benefits of firm membership. In addition, opportunities may arise for interns to continue their relationship with Prometheus Research after graduation.
