The Research Data Manager will support a major biomedical research
effort, by maintaining a high quality data-set as it rapidly grows, and
by making the data available to researchers and other users.
Areas of Responsibility
- Design and implement procedures to insure the overall cleanliness,
consistency, and accessibility of the research data stored in a web-
based collaboration database
- Produce reports that communicate the status of data collection
efforts to various stakeholders
- Produce documentation describing the data to end-users
- Produce raw data sets for input into statistical analysis packages
- Conduct basic statistical quality checks on key variables to detect
outliers and patterns suggesting large differences among sites or
interviewers.
- Communicate user requests to the software development team, and help
evaluate the developer's efforts to improve the user experience and to
streamline data management
Required Qualifications
- 3 years experience with managing basic research or clinical trial data
- MA in a behavioral or biological science, or in statistics, or equivalent experience
- Good working knowledge of a statistical package such as SAS or SPSS
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
- Some experience with designing and querying relational databases
(e.g., using MS Access or FileMaker)
- Ability to quickly learn new software tools, and an interest in
doing so (yes, we're looking for nerds)
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated experience communicating directly with scientists (our customers)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with behavioral research methods and data
- Experience with genetic research methods and data
- PhD in a behavioral or biological science, or in statistics
- Specialization in statistics and research methods
- Experience with R
- Intermediate knowledge of relational database design and querying
This is a full-time salaried position. Compensation is expected to be between $55K-$80K, commensurate with experience.
